Headmistress Weasley's Office

Headmaster Abigail Weasley stood up from her office chair and looked around her cozy office. The previous headmaster’s portraits hung from the stone walls and each face looked down at her; each face with an encouraging smile. She had just finished putting the final touches on the speech she would need to give tonight at the feast.
Before heading downstairs to the Great Hall, Abigail took one last look around her office to make sure everything was in place for the new school year. Her favorite books on the shelves? Check. Freshly sharpened quills in her “I’m a Mommy” mug? Check. Gryffindor’s sword in its unbreakable glass case? Check. Family photos scattered throughout the office? Check.
Abigail’s gaze fell on one of the photos. It should be no surprise that her attention would be drawn to that particular photo at that moment. The photo was taken the day she graduated from Hogwarts. The two people waving back at her were smiling and their faces were practically glowing. Abigail went over to the side table and picked up the picture. She remembered that day like it was yesterday, instead of 11 years ago. She had always had the best memories of school at Hogwarts. It was the first home she had where she felt safe, even during Voldemort’s reign when the castle was almost destroyed during the Battle at Hogwarts.
After helping to fight in the Battle, the urge to protect her beloved school never faded. She always knew she belonged here. Her desire to protect this school and all of it’s inhabitants was so strong that she could not resist applying for the teaching position as soon as one became available. When she was offered the position of Headmistress it was the best day of her life, only overshadowed by the days of her wedding and each of her children’s births.
This was her first year as Headmistress and Abigail was just as nervous now as she was on her first day of school so many years ago when she first climbed onto the Hogwarts Express. She put the picture of her and her sister-in-law back on the shelf. She realized her mind had wandered again and if she didn’t hurry she wouldn’t have enough time to stop off at the kitchens before heading down to the Feast. Abigail hurried over to her desk and snatched her parchment-index cards with her speech written on them off her desk. She gave one last look around her office before leaving for the room.
