Caroline sorted out

Caroline wrung her hands as she awaited her turn to wear the big hat. She was relieved that that was all sorting required, her father and uncles had teased her a lot about what may be awaiting her and they had made her very nervous. She was still nervous however, because she really didn't know what house she should be in. Her family had a strong Gryffindor tradition. She wouldn't mind being in Gryffindor, but she had never felt particularly brave. She'd never really had any chance to prove if she was or not anyway. But she also knew that she wanted to do well in school and her mother had been a Ravenclaw. She liked the sound of that better, but she worried that it was far more likely that she'd end up a Gryff. The odds and genetics seemed to be against her. She had to wait a long time for her name to be called out, but it was her turn at last. She trembled a little as the hat came down on her head, obscuring her vision. "Oh a Weasley" it rumbled inside her brain "then it had better be Gry..." "Please!" she thought furiously "I'd rather be in Ravenclaw" "Are you sure?" it hemmed "Yes...yes" it ha'ed. "I can see that side of you too. You'd do well in Gryffindor, but if you prefer RAVENCLAW" it shouted "that had better be it then". She sighed and slid off the stool, her knees still felt a little bit week and she was afraid of falling as she made her way to the Ravenclaw table.
